CABIN JOHN PROJECT
Erika Jayne Design was hired to completely revamp the existing first-floor layout which included a galley kitchen, powder room, foyer, dining, and living room of this 1980's single-family home. A hallway was relocated and the walls dividing the kitchen, dining room and living room were removed. The end result is an improved flow from room-to-room and the feeling of more space without having to expand the existing footprint. Thoughtful spacial planning allowed for uninterrupted sight-lines from the new open kitchen to the dining room and into the living room, all while preserving ample wall space to display the family's contemporary artwork collection. Unique custom pieces were designed and crafted, such as a custom double-sided walnut bar buffet built to be accessible from both the dining room and living room, and a walnut banquette with a tilt-up top for plenty of seating and storage in the family's new eat-in kitchen.
