Erika Jayne Design + Build is a design-driven, full-service residential design/build firm serving clients in the Washington, DC area. We specialize in interior design, architectural planning, and construction. Erika Jayne Design + Build works with clients to design new space, re-design existing, execute the build-out, and finish the space with lighting, furniture, accessory selections and custom pieces for the home.


Sales are great but unlike many firms, we are driven by design. If you have an interior design background with AutoCAD skills and love re-designing existing space and creating new space, this would be a perfect fit for you. If you have an architectural background and love working with interiors, this would be a perfect fit for you. Many of our projects involve interior architectural changes and require a complete set of construction documents to submit for permitting. 


  • Accurately field measure and transcribe to as-built drawings

  • Works with project team to create as-built drawings, conceptual design drawings, permit drawings, and construction documents

  • Creatively solve spatial problems with an eye for the aesthetics

  • Present a realistic timeline and budget

  • Understanding of local zoning laws, environmental factors and structural issues relevant to projects

  • Understanding of permitting processes – within DC Metro area

  • Keep paper trails, collect payments, and log design hours, receipts, and expenses

  • Prioritize a positive and exciting design experience for the client

  • Handle issues with orders or unforeseen design-related changes by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations

  • Work with client, including but not limited to, showroom visits, providing samples, providing resources, etc.

  • Negotiate prices and prepare sales agreements, contracts and submit orders for processing

  • Research and stay current with latest design trends (materials, finishes, fixtures, appliances, etc.)


Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience as a K&B designer or in the interior design or architectural field

  • 20/20 Design Software

  • AutoCAD / Revit / Chief Architect Software (fluent in at least 1)

  • SketchUp (Bonus Points)

  • Graphic Design Capabilities (Adobe Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) (Double Bonus Points)

  • A positive vibe and a good sense of humor! (Triple Bonus Points)

Erika Jayne Design + Build is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for design + construction to join our team and continue building a rewarding career as a key member of the company and manager of the Production Team.


We are looking for an expert field professional to oversee every aspect of the production-side of a project, such as, estimating, scheduling, personnel management, subcontractor management, safety, administration, customer satisfaction, etc.  This is an important role which requires working closely with our Designers, our Clients, Vendors, and Subs in helping to manage and complete residential remodeling work with the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. 


  • Some hands-on field work may be required

  • Expertise in construction practices, cabinet, trim, and tile installation. 

  • Ability to manage projects, including weekly progress meetings with the Designer, and Client

  • Be diligent in the use of our project management software to communicate with the team, the Client, update the schedule, track & record financials, and log project progress reports

  • Complete work with the highest quality craftsmanship

  • Furnish all hand tools and small power tools as necessary to complete the job

  • Follow jobsite safety procedures 

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Attend initial consultations with Lead Designer

  • Works with project team in the development of the design, construction documents, timeline and budget

  • Manage the building permitting process from application to inspections

  • Research and stay current with latest construction practices (methods, equipment, materials, etc.)

Preferred Requirements: 

  • NARI Remodeling Project Manager Certification or Lead Carpenter Certification (Bonus Points)
